Getting started

Clear design goals are required upfront.

Effectively, you will have four items that you need to balance:

Uniformity

What is the minimum uniformity your design will need to achieve, keeping in mind that higher uniformity designs may result in higher cost?

Application rate

What is the maximum water application rate you need to apply, and do you have the water available to do this?

System life

Decide whether your drip line/tape will be used for a single season or for several years. Also determine how long the other system components should last.

System cost

Know your sensitivity to cost (both upfront and ongoing), which will impact all of the other components.

Your challenge will be to design a system that meets these conflicting goals. You will need to make tradeoffs between uniformity, system life, and system cost.
