Back-flush water used

In the previous section, we explored automatic and semi-automatic back-flushing. When this process occurs, this back-flush water (the water used to clean the filtration element) is expelled from the filter.

A media filter uses significantly more water in the back-flush process than other filtration methods. If water is a major constraint, the back-flush water requirement (volume) needs to be considered, including the possibility of return of the back-flush water to the reservoir.
