Rivulis Invests Expand Drip Irrigation Production in San Juan, Argentina
Reinforcing our position as Argentina’s premier drip irrigation company, and established in San Juan in 1998, the recent investment has led to a 40% increase in production capacity, elevating output from 70 million to over 100 million meters annually. This expansion introduces a new production line capable of manufacturing irrigation laterals, or hoses, in a new diameter previously unavailable in Argentina.
The decision to expand was driven by several factors, including:
- Increased Domestic Demand: The past three years have seen a growing demand from key agricultural regions, particularly Córdoba, known for crops like corn, soybeans, and peanuts. Recurring droughts have prompted producers to adopt irrigation technologies to mitigate water scarcity.
- Technological Advancements: There’s a growing trend toward micro-irrigation with farmers seeking to reduce their water footprint and adapt to climate change. Drip irrigation offers efficient water use, aligning with sustainable agricultural practices.
- Improved Crop Yields: Drip irrigation has been linked to increased agricultural yields, attracting more producers nationwide to adopt the technology.
Rivulis’ San Juan plant serves the entire Argentine market, with customers in Salta, Tucumán, and Buenos Aires. The recent expansion positions Rivulis to meet domestic needs and other South American export markets, including Peru, a significant importer of drip irrigation technology.
The San Juan facility is strategically located within the Chimbas Industrial Park allows efficient distribution across the continent, supporting the company’s goal to make micro-irrigation solutions accessible globally.
We have a rich history of developing, manufacturing, and supporting top-quality micro-irrigation solutions for over 80 years. Starting with the consolidation of leading micro-irrigation companies, Rivulis has expanded its capabilities and market presence through strategic mergers and acquisitions.
The investment in San Juan underscores our commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture through innovative irrigation solutions. By improving production capabilities and expanding product offerings, we will meet the evolving needs of farmers in Argentina and across South America, contributing to improved water management and agricultural productivity.
