Introduction to Rivulis Sprinkler Irrigation Systems

At Rivulis, our sprinkler solutions are designed as high-efficiency irrigation systems, ideal for micro-irrigation. Sprinkler systems operate between 1.5 and 4.0 bars (22 to 58 psi) with flow rates under 2000 l/h (528 GPH).

There are two different categories for sprinklers based on their specific applications:

Sprinklers

Micro-Sprinklers

  • Flow rates between 300 and 2000 l/h (79 to 528 GPH)
  • Applications:
    • Open-field irrigation
    • Full coverage systems for above or under tree irrigation.
  • Flow rates under 300 (79 GPH)
  • Applications: Their compact size makes them ideal for localized irrigation, both above and below tree canopies, particularly in:
    • Orchards
    • Protected agriculture (greenhouses, nurseries, etc)
  • This category includes fogers and Mist micro-sprinklers.

Moreover, sprinklers can also be classified into various types based on water distribution types:

Dynamic sprinklers

Use moving parts (e.g, swivels or nozzles) to distribute water evenly.

Ideal for uniform coverage; suitable for a wide range of irrigation needs.

Static Sprinklers

Use fixed diffusers to shape the water pattern without any moving part

Cost-effective and simple; not suitable for applications like frost protection

Foggers and Micro-sprinklers

Produce fine droplets (55-100 microns) for targeted environmental control.

Primarily used in greenhouses and propagation for humidity and cooling.

Applications

As mentioned before, sprinkler systems support diverse applications, from open fields to orchards and protected environments, and offer greater flexibility than drip irrigation through their multifunctional design.

In addition to irrigation, sprinkler systems can be used to support a range of crop management tasks that improve plant health, quality, and resilience.

Cooling

Reduces crop canopy temperature by up to 10°C (18°F) through evaporative cooling.

Color Enhancement

Enhances fruit color and sugar content by creating temperature differentials during ripening.

Cleaning

Removes dust, pollutants, and insect residues to improve light interception and photosynthesis.

Frost Protection

Maintains plant tissue temperature during frost events through controlled water application.

Foliar Application

Enables delivery of fertilizers or crop protection products directly to plant foliage.
