Growing Beyond in
Australia
In 2021, goFARM had a unique challenge when it came to developing a new agriculture project in Victoria, Australia. The team at goFARM wanted to turn former dairy land into a thriving nut farm.
The first step was to improve the soil quality, which meant planting maize crops for a year or three and then move the crop to almond orchards. The challenge was finding the right irrigation system that would accommodate the size of the farm blocks, support high flow volumes, and meet safety standards.
Rivulis stepped up to solve this challenge, based on our expertise in irrigation systems and innovative product offerings, and designed a revolutionary irrigation system. This system was optimized for the best performance, and Rivulis even developed a new concept for all the filters to be at chest height. To achieve this, the mainlines were placed in a pit under the pump shed, with a floor grating that allowed for easy access during maintenance and repairs.
However, the highlight of Rivulis’ contributions to the goFARM project was the development of the F3340 PRO filter concept. This filter system allows for the high flow volumes – up to 800 liters per second in this case – required for large farms and is much better from a health and safety perspective. Although the F3340 PRO was not part of the original tender specifications, Rivulis presented this much more efficient solution, that managed to stay within the requested budget, and the client accepted. To support this fully electrical pump station, Rivulis also provided high-tech controllers, so the farm manager and staff would be able to manage aspects like pressure differential and number of filter flushes per day.
For Rivulis sales team, this project was a unique opportunity to utilize Rivulis expertise, innovation and know-how, to build a system that would work correctly every time it operated.
As Tim Lewis, District Sales Manager of Rivulis in Australia mentions: “I’m very happy that through our collaboration with our dealer and the farm owner’s design team we managed to create a pump station that operates optimally with minimal problems for 25 years. The design we developed complies with workplace health and safety standards and the filters are from stainless steel for extended durability. This easy-to-use design allows for simple training and commissioning, and it encourages maintenance. Moreover, it is cost-neutral and innovative, accommodating the needs of large farms, such as goFARM, with efficient workflow.”
